A few months ago, we launched “Magical Mary,” a Lilly Pulitzer & Make-a-Wish print with purpose created by our friend Mary and benefiting the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Inspired by her favorite animal, the unicorn, Mary chose to have her print made into a few styles including a girls popover and a girls Harper Shift…which quickly sold out! We are happy to announce that due to high demand, we have restocked the girls popover and shift dress! Yes. Way. These styles will be available on Wednesday.
We’re excited to launch our latest “Print with Purpose” today. “Magical Mary” is a Lilly Pulitzer & Make-a-Wish Print with Purpose in support of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. There’s a very special story behind this collection & we’re bringing you inside.
A Very Special Wish
A few months ago, we were introduced to a very special girl named Mary who had the opportunity to have a “wish” granted by Make-a-Wish. There’s so much to choose from the incredible experiences this organization can provide—vacations, shopping sprees, celebrity meet-and-greets, and the like—and Mary chose something a little different. In the letter from Mary’s mother that came our way:
“I’m writing to ask if Mary’s Make-A-Wish could change direction. While Mary would certainly enjoy a Caribbean vacation, we feel this is a tremendous opportunity to make an impact on pediatric cancer research.
My husband and I spoke with Mary this past weekend and she came up with what we think is a wonderful idea. Mary is a Lilly Pulitzer fanatic. I will copy a photograph of her room as proof 🙂 She would like to work closely with the artists and graphic designers at Lilly Pulitzer and Make-A-Wish to come up with her own original “print”. If possible she would like to sell the print, with the help of Lilly, in some limited capacity to raise money for CHOP and pediatric cancer research. Her brainstorming ideas included a headband, hat, notebook, water bottle or some other inexpensive accessory that could be produced on a relatively small scale in her own original print. A portion of the proceeds would then go to CHOP.
I understand this is big “wish”, but we applaud her efforts in wishing to help other children facing a cancer diagnosis. Please let me know what you think. We are of course open to suggestions and Mary is so excited to get started. Thank you for you time and efforts on Mary’s behalf. We are truly blessed”

Wish. Granted.
From there Mary’s wish was revealed to her with a special scavenger end that OF COURSE ended at the Lilly Pulitzer King of Prussia store and she learned that she was going to have a “magical” day at the Pink Palace aka our headquarter to dream, paint, and design her print and collection. On her wish day, the Lilly Jeep picked her up and whisked her away to a special morning that started with pink donuts and ended with an amazing collection.
“Magical Mary” is a print that lets us all believe in big dreams and special moments. The print includes her favorite animal, the unicorn, daffodils (a symbol of the American Cancer Society), and has the words “Mary’s Wish by Lilly Pulitzer,” “Mary,” and of course “Lilly” hidden in the art.
The print will launch on Saturday, April 27th online and at all Lilly Pulitzer stores!
