How to Pair Colors with Neutrals

How to Pair Colors with Neutrals

Dee Top & Worth Skinny Jean

When it comes to color, we almost never remain neutral. We get it, neutral outfits are easy and versatile, but you know what else makes neutrals sooo perfect? They are a great base for a little pop of color. If you are new to the idea of adding color to your neutral wardrobe, you came to the RIGHT place. We have everything you need to know about pairing your neutral colored clothing with a pop of color.

What is a Neutral Color?

Picture a color wheel. What colors are missing? Neutrals are colors that aren’t on the standard color wheel. They are not as bright and lower in saturation, like black, white, grey and nude. These colors are essential for moments when you want to add a POP of color.

What Colors go with Beige and Tan?

We look at the color tan and think one thing…SAND. And nothing goes better with sand than the color of the ocean. Bright blues are the perfect hues to add to your sand-colored look. Add something simple like our Tropical Punch Tassel Necklace or go crazy and rock our “Drop Me A Lime” Callahan short.

What Colors go with White?

Is this even a question? What DOESN’T go with white? All Lilly lovers know that we think Resort White is as essential as color is when planning an outfit. Mostly because it literally goes with anything. Start with a basic, like our Resort White Dossie Top and Short Set, then add a POP of color with our Tipsea Tasselor Sea Salt Necklace.

What Colors go with Black?

Let’s put it this way, COLOR is the new black. What makes black the perfect neutral is that it has a little bit of every color in it. If you want to get a little multi-colored fun in your outfit, pair your black with our Kiki Tassel Necklace and Cha Cha Straw Pouch.

What are some good outfit color combinations?

NAVY + GOLD

Navy + Gold

Looking for colors that go with navy? You’ve struck GOLD. Gold is our go-to accent color because it complements all of our prints…but really shines the brightest when paired with our navy. See for yourself with our Caia Romper.

PINK + PURPLE + BEIGE

Pink + Purple + Beige

We couldn’t make a list of our favorite color combos without including our favorite color…PINK. Pink is great on it’s own but is truly complemented when paired with a great purple. Give it a try with our print, “Drop Me a Lime.”

YELLOW + GREEN + GRAY

This color combo has pineapple written all over it…and we CAN’T get enough. If you’re looking forthe perfect pop of yellow and green, try our print, “Casa Del Sol.”

TEAL + PINK + BEIGE

Teal + Pink + Beige

Can’t decide between pink or blue? Who says you have to? We LOVE pairing these two colors side byside to create a bold look. Try it for yourself with our “Drop Me a Lime” print.

PINK + LIME + WHITE

There’s nothing we love more than a pink and green combo. This duo is a classic and can be achieved effortlessly by rocking our “Flamenco Beach” print or pairing our white Worth Skinny Jeans with our Berry Fiz Stasia Sweater. Top it off with our Sea Salt Necklace for the full pink + lime look.

TEAL + LIME + NAVY

This color combo will have you in full relaxation mode. Combining these hues creates the calm feeling of ocean waves, or the way our views look after the sun sets. Our “Tortuga Time” print is the serene solution to your wardrobe.

Lilly Pulitzer

It all started with a juice stand…
When 21-year old Lilly eloped with Peter Pulitzer, they escaped the hustle and bustle of New York City for the sun and sand of Palm Beach

In the shadow of Peter's citrus groves, Lilly opened a juice stand. To disguise the juice stains on her clothing, she had a sleeveless dress made from colorfully-printed cotton.
