Lilly’s Resort Town Guide: Nantucket

June 29, 2018
Lilly’s Resort Town Guide: Nantucket

Today we’re continuing our Lilly’s Resort Town Guides (be sure to check out the last one on Bermuda, which share our Lilly guide to the most iconic resort towns and destinations. Plus, our Must-Stays, Must-Eats, Must-Dos, and of course, Must-Wears while you’re there.

This time, we’re focusing on the charming place of Nantucket, a tiny island located off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It’s a combination of rich whaling history, unspoiled beaches, and chic restaurants and shops that line cobblestone streets and yacht-filled docks. We couldn’t help but visit mid-June and turn it into an all-out girls trip… by bringing along a few of our besties.

We were thrilled to be joined by Krystal of A Pinch of Lovely, Jenn of Haute Off the Rack, Brittany of Loverly Grey, and Jenn of Style Charade—if you’re not following all of them already, do yourself a favor and follow along now. They couldn’t have been more colorful, upbeat Lilly ladies and it’s safe to say that we took over the island in PRINT and had the ultimate summer resort trip together.

There’s SO much to do on Nantucket. Lucky for you, we’re sharing exactly what we did and how you can experience a dream Lilly girls’ trip in ACK the same way.

MUSt-stay

The White Elephant– The White Elephant started out as a collection of cottages in the 1920s, founded by prominent Nantucket socialite, Elizabeth T. Ludwig. Her passion project became affectionately known as “Mrs. Ludwig’s white elephant” and it prospered as a seaside cottage business from the beginning. In the 1960s (while Lilly was shaking things up in Palm Beach with the creation of the first Shift Dress), the White Elephant property came under new ownership and was transformed into a luxury vacation destination.

Both female-founded and a major part of resort history, we feel so connected to the White Elephant and LOVE staying there. Which is twice as sweet now that we have our own signature Lilly Pulitzer Cottage on property…

must-eat

Something Natural– Ride bikes from the White Elephant over to Something Natural for their delicious Portuguese bread fresh sandwiches. You can sit at their picnic tables outside and enjoy the sunshine while you refuel mid-bike ride. It’s causal and a family-favorite.

Galley Beach– Located not far from town, this is the chicest spot to get cocktails with your girlfriends. There are fire pits and lounge areas in the sand, where you can hang out and catch a gorgeous sunset over the ocean. It’s one of our go-to spots!

TOPPER’S– Part of the phenomenal Wauwinet inn, TOPPER’s is a foodie’s DREAM. They offer seasonally inspired dishes, with an emphasis on local produce and seafood. With a cozy atmosphere and phenomenal flavors throughout each course, this is where you should celebrate either the first or last night of your vacay.

must-see

‘Sconset Bluff Walk- We drove across the island to ‘Sconset where we walked along the cliff that parallels the beach. The cedar shake cottages there are simple but breathtaking. Go in July to see the famous roses that climb the sides of the cottages. This was one of our favorite photo spots of the trip!

Another can’t-miss photo moment? The Brant Point Lighthouse from the Barton and Gray White Elephant Hinckley yacht… such a gorgeous shot!

must-wear

Bennet Blue Feelin’ Beachy Print– This print and color matches the classic but beachy feel of Nantucket and its soft ocean hues. We wore it in multiple styles throughout the trip. We couldn’t get enough!

As you can see, there is no lACK of activity or fashion when visiting Nantucket. It’s stolen our hearts as an iconic resort destination!

Lilly Pulitzer

It all started with a juice stand…
When 21-year old Lilly eloped with Peter Pulitzer, they escaped the hustle and bustle of New York City for the sun and sand of Palm Beach

In the shadow of Peter's citrus groves, Lilly opened a juice stand. To disguise the juice stains on her clothing, she had a sleeveless dress made from colorfully-printed cotton.
