Sunshine Spotlight
Expand AllHow does wearing Lilly Pulitzer make you feel?
Joyful! I wear Lilly in my daily life, but I am always drawn to wear it for special occasions or
milestones in our family. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings, Fundraising Events.
What does Be the Sunshine mean to you?
To me it means being a shining light in someone’s day. Smile at a stranger, give a complement,
volunteer your time, we all have given talents and they should be shared with others! Lead by
example and inspire others to want be the sunshine in someone’s life.
Is there a message or mantra that has inspired you particularly this year?
Celebrate the little things! As a society we always want to celebrate the big victories, but we have
to celebrate the small ones with just as much enthusiasm. In our birthday boxes, we have a small jar
of confetti that says to use to celebrate the little things. In our line of work, a small victory is
the hope a parent craves for the next step of their child’s medical journey. This year has proved
how important birthdays are and how we all want to be celebrated in some way.
What inspired you to start The Confetti Foundation?
I learned of a little boy who had lived his whole life in the hospital, and they were celebrating
his first birthday. It was the parents’ responsibility to get the decorations. Gifts and presents
were given by the hospital, but the actual decorations were not available. I set out to change that!
We currently have celebrated over 14,000 birthdays in almost 300 hospitals. All children should feel
celebrated on their special day.
How can our Lilly community get involved in helping The Confetti Foundation?
We have so many ways to get involved! You can donate new party supplies or travel games. Donate
your time by making birthday banners, birthday cards or bookmarks. Become a Birthday Fairy by
introducing us to your local children’s hospital and getting them on board with our program. All
